Empowering Disadvantaged and Sexually Exploited Women and Young Girls Through Soap Making Training

In Liberia, disadvantaged and sexually exploited women and young girls face severe hardships that undermine their dignity, safety, and potential for a better future. Poverty, lack of education, and limited access to essential resources create an environment where many young women and girls become vulnerable to sexual exploitation and abuse. These circumstances perpetuate a cycle of dependency, making it incredibly difficult for them to break free and achieve self-sufficiency.

 The Challenges in Liberia

The issues faced by disadvantaged and sexually exploited women and young girls in Liberia are multifaceted:

1.      Poverty and Lack of Economic Opportunities: Many women and girls live in extreme poverty, with limited opportunities for education or employment. This economic vulnerability often leads them to seek income through means that put them at risk of exploitation.

2.      Sexual Exploitation: The lack of financial stability and social support exposes many to sexual exploitation, where they are forced into prostitution or other forms of sexual abuse to survive.

3.      Health Risks: The prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, is high among sexually exploited women and girls. Limited access to health education and services exacerbates these health risks.

FOWACE’s Holistic Approach to Empowerment: The Foundation for Women and Children Empowerment (FOWACE) is dedicated to addressing these critical issues through a comprehensive and sustainable approach. Our initiatives are designed to empower women and young girls, providing them with the tools and support necessary to build a better future.

 Soap Making Training

FOWACE offers practical training in soap making, a skill that enables women and girls to create a sustainable source of income. This training not only equips them with a marketable skill but also instills a sense of pride and achievement.

A. Start-Up Materials

To help participants immediately utilize their new skills, FOWACE provides the essential start-up materials needed to begin soap making. This support is crucial in helping them launch their own small businesses, fostering economic independence.

B. Small Business Management Training

Our small business management training covers vital topics such as budgeting, marketing, and financial planning. This knowledge empowers women and girls to effectively manage their enterprises, ensuring long-term success and stability.

C. Health Education

FOWACE places a strong emphasis on health education, offering information on sexual health, STI prevention, and overall wellness. This education is critical in helping women and girls make informed health choices, reducing their vulnerability to exploitation and disease.

 Impact and Vision

FOWACE’s holistic approach aims to break the cycle of poverty and exploitation that many women and girls in Liberia face. By providing sustainable livelihood empowerment, we help reduce the prevalence of prostitution and sexual exploitation, while lowering the rates of STIs among our beneficiaries. The skills and knowledge gained through our programs enable women and girls to take control of their lives, support their families, and contribute positively to their communities.

At FOWACE, we believe in a future where every woman and girl in Liberia has the opportunity to lead a life of dignity, free from exploitation and poverty. Our commitment is to make this vision a reality, empowering one woman and girl at a time.

Join us in our mission to uplift and empower these resilient individuals. Together, we can create lasting change and build a brighter future for women and girls in Liberia.
